as an optical mouse, the A4Tech X-710F makes use of an Agilent
3060 chip that processes its movement of up to 6500 tps (frames
per second). It employs LEDs (light emitting diodes) and photodiodes
to detect the mouse movement rather than moving parts.
Its sensitivity is rated at 1000dpi (dots per inch) and can
be adjusted by clicking on a dedicated button found on the
middle of the mouse. The scroll wheel changes its color to
indicate its sensitivity, with no color as the lowest and
red as the highest. Mouse sensitivity is a key element in
first person shooters and real-time strategy games, as it
dictates the movement of a character.
Aside from the customary left and right buttons and the scroll
wheel, two modifiable buttons are present on the left side.
These buttons will prove their worth in the long run as important
game functions, like us and change commands can be assigned
to them.
Perhaps its most recognizable feature is the red Triple Fire
button. The button is a novel contraption in game-play, especially
in close-quartered first-person shooters, as it allows the
player to fire three times with just one click
But the A4Tech X-710F is not intended for gaming purposes
only. It can also be used in more serious stuff like office
productivity and presentations. The Triple Fire button can
open folders and files without double clicking the left button
while the two other buttons found on the left side can be
programmed to pull up office applications. In addition, its
rubberized feel and sufficient weight of 104g enhances the
end-user experience.
Bundled with the unit is a driver CD that contains a mouse
diagnostic utility and a USB to PS2 port converter. With its
attributes in mind, the A4Tech X-710F is surprisingly cheap
at a low P925. If you’re a person who values functionality,
the A4Tech is good steal.
